Pinewood Derby Award Categories

Derby day is about more than speed. Most packs award first, second and third fastest overall and by den, plus design awards such as best paint job, most creative, funniest car, most realistic and best in show, and a participation award so every racer goes home with something. Derby Awards in This Collection

Choose pinewood derby medals (Mega, Ten Star and full-color Decagon), a Star Power pinewood derby trophy, a pinewood car resin sculpture, a gold pinewood derby figure trophy, derby Motion Rounds, go-kart sport plates and a derby insert trophy. Chenille pins and dog tags make small extras for every racer.

Medals for Everyone, Trophies for Winners

A simple plan: a medal for every racer, trophies for the fastest three cars overall and in each den, and one design trophy per category. Count your dens and categories before ordering, and add a few spares in case of ties.

Some packs also add awards for siblings or adult open-class races, and for leaders who ran the track and timer. Planning these ahead keeps derby day moving, because awards can be sorted by den before the first heat.

What to Engrave

Use the racer's name, the award, the pack or den, and the year: "1st Place Fastest Car - Wolf Den 2026" or "Best Paint Job - Pack Derby 2026".
